Hydraulic tool press for forging tool assembly, die setting, and disassembly of tools and molds assembled by press fitting with press force from 250 metric tons up to 500 metric tons. The press frame is stripwound and ensures an effective compression of the steel frame, and even at max press load, the frame remains in a fully compressive state.
TAP would normally weigh less than half of a conventional tool assembly press, and requires reduced floor space, floor strength, and ceiling height. The overall equipment dimensions for the TAP 500T die assembly press are W1100 x D1600 x H2260 mm (and H2460mm with the light tower), and the workspace dimensions are W650 x D650 x H500 mm. The total weight of the TAP 500T press is approx. 4300 kg, and for a TAP 250T die assembly press, the weight is approx. 2200 kg.
The press is equipped with a 600 bar high-pressure hydraulic power pack, proportional valve technique, and easy to operate for manual pre-setting of the required pressure force. The tool assembly press is also equipped with an adjustable speed function when the press cylinder is under loading, namely 0,5 – 2 mm/sec. and automatically activated when the cylinder load is exceeding approx. 10T. These design features offer a smooth, safe, controlled, and user-friendly operation of the assembly press.
The front side of the hydraulic die assembler press has been reserved for tool handling. The sliding press table ensures an open, proper positioning and setting of the tools before being moved into the press room. The control panel is placed just next to the press table and provides a perfect view of the press operation.
The TAP machine is very safe and cannot be operated with an open door, however, it can be opened for axial prestressing of the die set or mold with a special key. In such a case, the operator has safe and easy access to mechanical locking of the tooling with a spanner while the tool stack is kept under static pressure. This design feature offers a smooth, controlled, safe, and user-friendly operation of the assembly press.
The hydraulic power pack and electrical cabinet have been installed into the press body and TAP represents a compact and easy-to-install equipment solution compared to conventional tool assembly presses, for example at the production line or in the workshop area with standard power connection and pneumatic air supply.
The TAP machine is available with the following options: Force / Stroke measurement system from Schwer & Kopka, axial prestressing, and time delay.
